Mother’s Day Table Décor 2014

Mothers Day is, in our opinion, the most important holiday of the year. The one day we take time out to remember the woman who kissed our scrapes, packed our lunches and made sure we had everything we needed.

When it comes to celebrating mothers, we think a beautiful brunch is the way to go, especially when you put in the time and effort to make it yourself.

Putting extra effort into designing the right décor is an elegant way to show your mom just how much you care. It’s that little bit of oomph that makes it feel special. And with these helpful tips (inspired from the latest home décor trends) your mum will feel like she just stepped into a movie.

Tea Time In The Garden

If the weather permits, create a whimsical tea party right on your own patio.

Feminine touches like lace, floral and ruffles make gorgeous table décor. And this is where the trend of texture and layering both come into play.

When choosing a tablecloth, go for crisp white. It gives you a lovely solid base to work with; then let the layering begin! Pink doilies and floral table runners are perfect for this teatime brunch, so don’t be afraid to play around with this look.

Have fun with fresh flowers, too. Depending on where you live peonies or lilacs might already be in season. They’re so feminine, your mother and family will appreciate them.

If you come from a beachy family, a sea-inspired brunch will have your mom reminiscing about beautiful summer days at the beach.

Natural elements can easily tie into your table setting. Sand, shells, wood, coral and stone are all attainable either around your house or at your local craft supply store. This has been such a big trend for the past few years and it shows no signs of abating.

If you really want to make a unique setting, take a trip down to your nearest beach to see what inspiration and treasures you can find along the way.

This table setting is all about attention to detail. Try using rope for napkin rings or old wine bottles filled with sand for that beachy effect.

Simple and Chic

Layering in neutral tones of gold, chocolate and cream make a simple yet sophisticated table setting for moms with elegant taste.

For a base, we suggest a taupe tablecloth with a pop of dark chocolate napkins. Deep colored glassware works beautifully against the taupe as well.

This table setting idea may at first feel a bit heavy for spring, but it actually works well with this season’s trend of brassy metal accessories. It’s a departure from the ultra feminine looks above but has a rich feel to it. You can lighten the look by adding white accents to your table. Think: White napkins, goodies and we love the white backdrop used in the picture below.

You’ll want to add vases, bowls or detailed ornaments to complete the look — what metal or brass elements do you have kicking around to make this look pop?

As the finishing touch, garnish the table with delicious white chocolates and truffles. (What’s brunch without a treat to satisfy your sweet tooth? After all, both you and your mother have earned it!)
